sytycd.

So, I'm currently catching up on my SYTYCD episodes, watching it off the pvr, and I just HAD to blog this right now. I tweeted, I've used tumblr, but those are both short. I just have to get this out of my system right now, so here I am.

I started with last week's episode, and I had already heard about Alex Wong's injury and yet when I watched him talk about it, and watched him have to leave the show, I couldn't stop crying. Just seeing him look so sad because he couldn't do what he loved to do with all the talent that he has...oh man. So yeah. That just set me off.

Then I saw Lauren and Kent's contemporary routine which was choreographed by one of my absolute favourites from the show ever, Travis Wall. Not only was it just beautiful, but the song choice just added the cherry on top. Collide by Howie Day was used, and oh my goodness...both are such young, beautiful, just such talented, hard-working dancers. I can't believe they're only 18 years old firstly, but anyways...just, a;asdf;lkj. I have no words. So many great pieces this season, seriously. But continuing on, yeah, the chemistry was just spot on and yeah...the kiss at the end just made me go nuts, haha. Beautiful piece, just fantastic.

Then, onto this week's performance episode, and it opens with a freakin' tahitian number. I was blown away. One - some of my fave dancers, Lauren from this season and the all-star was Mark Kanemura, again one of my favourites from the past seasons, and two - tahitian!? Wha!? Where did that even come from? I used to do that! To see a style of dance that I did for YEARS that isn't exactly mainstream, on my favourite show that is so big right now - holy crap. Epic. It was obviously a bit more modernized, but they did a great job (and Mark looked great shirtless again hahahaha) but yeah. I was impressed and just so happy to see it on the show.

And I'm continuing to watch that episode right now and just...oh man. I am so incredibly impressed.

But yeah, this season - oh my goodness. Most Memorable Moments/Favourite Moments:
ALEX WONG, his contemporary w/ Allison and hiphop w/ Twitch =) oh man.
KENT, in general, but mostly the contemporary w/ Lauren
And just to mention my favourites from past seasons that I'm super excited about cause they've all been involved in this season at some point:
Males: Travis Wall, Mark Kanemura
Females: Allison Holker, Katee Shean

...

I love dance. I love it with my heart & soul. I danced for hours today and even as my body aches, I loved every moment. And here I am, up late when I should be in bed, watching more dance. I wish I could live, breath, eat, sleep dance every day for the rest of my life.

  1. much love to this post...i agree, i find it fascinating how the creative arts bring people from all over the world together. Music, Dance, Photography etc...it all speaks a common language with people from all walks of life. Regardless if it's a casual pleasure or what you are and what you breathe - art speaks and means.
